I declare the following conflicts of interest and discuss how I approach these topics on Wikimedia projects (primarily English Wikipedia, where my activities include resource-sharing and anti-vandalism patrol as well as editing content).

Conflicts of interest

[edit]

Australian Queer Archives

[edit]

As of 2025 I am employed by the Australian Queer Archives (previously the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives) but I am not paid to edit Wikipedia or otherwise add content to Wikimedia projects. I interpret this COI to cover:

  • the Archives itself
  • biographies of people who have been significantly involved with the Archives
  • recent past, current, or planned (future) partner organisations of the Archives

Australian politics

[edit]

At various times in the past I have been a member, branch office-bearer, local election candidate, election campaign volunteer, and employee of the Victorian Greens (state party and local branches) and of an Australian Greens federal member of parliament. I interpret this COI to cover:

  • any political party active in Australia at any time since 1944[a]
  • biographies of any member of parliament (federal, state, or territory), local councillor, or party office-bearer active in Australia at any time since 1944
  • any election held in Australia at federal, state, or local level since 1944
  • any referendum or plebiscite held in Australia since 1944, if political parties have campaigned on the issue
  • any member party of the Global Greens

Restrictions

[edit]

I will not make substantive edits to Wikipedia articles about these organisations, people, or related topics. I will use article talk pages to:

  • make edit requests
  • suggest additional references or resources
  • draw attention to possible violations of the neutral point of view policy

I will not conduct or participate in any of the following quality assessment activities related to these organisations, people, or topics:

I will not participate in any of the following discussions or !votes related to these organisations, people, or topics:

Permissible edits

[edit]

I believe I am permitted to make the following edits but am happy to be corrected:

  • uncontroversial edits such as reverting obvious vandalism or violations of the biographies of living persons policy
  • correct or update names or URLs in the References, Further reading, or External links sections of relevant articles
  • add claims to Wikidata items if I can support them with reliable references
  • take and upload my own photographs to Commons or Wikipedia
  • upload photos or other media to Commons or Wikipedia if appropriate rights or permissions have been obtained

Most material held in the Australian Queer Archives is not licensed for reproduction in projects like Wikimedia Commons. If I come across material in Commons that violates copyright I will request deletion.
