About me

[edit]

I'm Benison P Baby, a doctor and aspiring emergency medicine and tropical medicine specialist. I've been editing since May 2013, since 9th grade I suppose.

I identity as a heterosexual male with pronouns he/him. I'm a practising Pentecostal born again Christian and holds faith over reason.

Accounts

[edit]

Previous usernames

[edit]

I have changed my username around half a dozen times, due to my teenage mashed brain, I'd say. I started out as User:Benisonpanthaplackal in May 2013, then over to User:BenisonPBaby and later to User:Benison P Baby. Later, I edited under the pseudonym User:Planet Herald, and then finally settling globally as User:The Herald in 2014. I edited under The Herald for over a decade when I (grew up and (?)matured) to settle down as my real life name Benison, which is the current username.

Alts and logged-out edits

[edit]

I have one currently-active alternate account, Allfather (renamed from Allfather B due to non availability of the name). It is also my gaming tag across various titles, as well as at Discord (#allfather713).

During the early months of using this account, I occasionally made mainspace edits while logged out. These contributions were made in good faith and in accordance with Wikipedia's policies. I was never warned or blocked for any of them. However, I chose to stop editing while logged out to avoid any potential concerns about transparency or impropriety. I no longer recall the specific edits and therefore cannot provide links, but I have not intentionally edited while logged out since then.

Connections to other users

[edit]

I had shared IP addresses with Vishnuadamgilly, JOHN C THOMAS KADAMMANITTA and Arjunchandu34. None of them are actively editing now.

Before this account

[edit]

I had edited occasionaly before starting off my account, and have enjoyed some after school test edits, and dare I say, vandalism. But 14 year olds aren't great at stopping that. Then slowly reason and logic hit the brain like a truck, leading to the formation of an account.

Blocks

[edit]

I was blocked once, in February 2024, for crossing the 3RR threhsold. Here's the discussion on that. I agree with the admins and realise that the editwarring was unnecessary, and totalling unprofessional from my part. The IP also took it in good light and [we both] have edited in a civilised manner since. In response to my actions, I adopted a self-imposed Two-Revert Rule to encourage thoughtful editing and avoid future conflicts, and have tried to comply to that so far.

From my experience with the 3RR violation, I’ve learned that edit warring undermines the collaborative spirit of Wikipedia and often does more harm than good. Rather than repeatedly reverting edits, engaging in open discussion on the talk page allows for mutual understanding and consensus-building. I’ve come to appreciate the importance of civility, especially during disagreements, as respectful dialogue fosters a healthier editing environment. This experience taught me that mistakes are part of the journey, but taking responsibility and actively choosing to grow from them is what truly defines a constructive member of the Wikipedia community.

[edit]

I have not, and will not, engage in any paid editing activities using this or any other Wikimedia account.

Due to the nature of my profession and lifestyle, I have traveled extensively across India and lived in various places. As a result, I have contributed to editing articles related to these locations, as well as my alma mater, Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, and St Basils School, Basti.

Account security

[edit]

All my devices and accounts are protected with strong, unique passwords and two-factor authentication. I don’t share my devices with anyone, ensuring secure personal access. Additionally, all devices are encrypted at rest, safeguarding data even if lost or stolen. I take digital security seriously and follow best practices consistently.
