babekhris (born June 25, 2008, as Khrisaun Ny’Zir Cook) is an American rapper and songwriter from Newport News, Virginia. Known for his blend of ambient, rage, and psychedelic hip hop, he gained attention in the underground rap scene after debuting in 2022.
Early life and education
[edit]Cook was born in Newport News, Virginia. He began recording music while in middle school using an iPhone and USB microphone, uploading his early tracks to SoundCloud. He is currently a student at York High School in Yorktown, Virginia, and is frequently recognized among the school’s emerging music artists.
Career

[edit]In 2022, babekhris released his debut single, "GANG", through digital distribution platforms such as Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music. His early work reflected melodic flows and atmospheric production that attracted attention from local listeners and niche music blogs.
2023–present: Breakthrough
[edit]In early 2023, at age 15, babekhris collaborated with producer BNYX and became associated with underground collectives such as "Dark Outside" and "Beyond Youth (BY)," which he co-founded. His music style evolved into a more polished mix of rage rap, ambient loops, and experimental textures. He cites influences including Ken Carson, SoFaygo, Hardrock, and DC The Don.

Little is known about him and his past due to a lack of official interviews, but he has acknowledged in public that musicians like Ken Carson, SoFaygo, Hardrock, and Dc The Don have influenced him.
He frequently participates in 1700 Music Group and Beyond Youth (BY) programs.
The Beyond Youth (BY) group, which also includes the artists Abn Grym and Horror1x, was founded by babekhris.
