Alejandra Quintero (born March 10, 1990) Known professionally as Veva, is a Colombian musician,
artist, singers, songwriter, composer, and record producer, her music style is experimental, going from pop, alternative rock, indie, and electronic music, creating and eclectic sound.
Born and raised in Cali. Veva began her music career at 17, playing in small rock cover bands. in 2012 she formed the Alternative Rock solo project Alice Quint[1], as the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter. Establishing herself as part of the Valle del Cauca-area music scene, participating in different alternative music festivals as Calibre Festival, Malagana Fest, Mamut Fest buga, among others. releasing an EP Make the Change[2] on 2012 and also participating in several album compilations in Mexico, Argentina, Perú and Colombia, she gain international relevance as a musician and songwriter in the underground music movement. She decide to pause in 2020 in an indefinite hiatus.
Now she returns to the stage with a new sound, under the name Veva, releasing a new single on 2025 call "Ya no" that will be part of the new upcoming album “La Muerte de la Niña de Papel” . An album that mix electronic, pop, drum and bass, trap and sutil but piercing electric guitars, with a combination of soft vocal and drum machines.
Early Life
[edit]Ale was born in Cali, Colombia on March 10, 1990, She grew up between divorced parents, but also in an artistic environment, surrounded by music and painting. As a child, she was fond of Bon Jovi and Aerosmith. At age 7, her father gave her a toy piano, which sparked her interest in music, which led her to sing. At age 9, she watched reruns of Nirvana's Unplugged on MTV and fell in love with the band, alternative music, and the electric guitar. She taught herself to play guitar at 13.
Due to her parents' divorce when she was just 5, she developed problematic behavior during her adolescence, which continued throughout high school. She was a rebellious student, constantly getting into trouble and being expelled from several schools, which created a tense relationship with her father. She decided to take refuge in music, starting to write songs at age 14 and forming the band Smoking Alice[3] to perform rock covers at friends' gatherings and small clubs. Her father always supported and helped her.
At 16, she entered the Instituto popular de cultura[4] were she studied fine arts, but only 2 year later she left the program to pursue her music career.
