John D. Wilkie (27 July 1807 - 19 September 1876) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

His father was William Wilkie (born c. 1780), a weaver.
His mother was Euphemia Watson (19 July 1785 - 1869) from Leith, Edinburgh.
John Wilkie was born in St. Madoes, Perthshire on 27 July 1807.
He married Isabella Henderson. They married on 18 February 1831 in Ballingry in Fife.
He married Helen Hempseed (18 April 1820 - 22 April 1890) from Dunfermline in Fife. They married on 2 November 1845 in Lanark.

[edit]He died on 19 September 1876 at the Royal Asylum in Edinburgh. His usual address was 32 William Street.[5]
The death certificate states he died from exhaustion of melancholia.
The value of his estate was given as £1668, 9 shillings and 8 pence.
