John Murray Thomson (17 December 1885 - 16 October 1974) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was William Peter Thomson (13 May 1859 - 1 February 1934), a post office clerk from Woodside near Coylton in Ayrshire.
His mother was Elizabeth Bruce Murray (22 November 1863 - 26 May 1950) from Ayr. William and Elizabeth married on 12 June 1883 at Cyprus cottage in Ayr.
John Murray Thomson was born on 16 December 1885 at 78 John Street in St Quivox near Ayr.[3]
He was educated at Morrison's Academy in Crieff.
He married Ellen Sarah May Frew (born 20 February 1889) from Dingwall.[4] They married on 1 August 1917 at the Sheriff Courthouse in Edinburgh.
