Frances Stoddart (28 October 1808 - 22 May 1867) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life

Her father was Captain Pringle Stoddart (23 May 1768 - 19 January 1848) of the Royal Navy from Edinburgh. He eventually became a Rear Admiral.

Her mother was Frances Sprot (15 April 1780 - 26 October 1860) from Edinburgh. Pringle and Frances married on 20 November 1807 in Holborn in London, England.

Frances Stoddart was born on 28 October 1808 in Edinburgh.[6][7]

Her brother was the angler and poet Thomas Tod Stoddart.

Death

She died on 22 May 1867 at her home 43 Heriot Row in Edinburgh.[8] She was buried in Warriston cemetery, Edinburgh.[9]
