Founded in 2019 with pre-seed investment from angel investors including the ‘Skype mafia’, and in later rounds from Project A, DocuSign, Atomico, 3VC, Maersk Growth and Karma Ventures amongst others, the latest raise of $54m in 2025 was led by Insight Partners. This brings Pactum’s total investments to over $100m.
History
Pactum was founded in 2019 by Kaspar Korjus, Kristjan Korjus and Martin Rand. Previously the founders had leading roles in other high-tech industries and companies. Kaspar Korjus was the founding Managing Director of the Estonian’ Government’s e-residency program. Kristjan Korjus developed the data and vision modeling for Starship Technologies delivery robots and published the third best-selling book of 2014 on mathematics in Estonia.
The early days and seed capital came from the so-called ‘Skype mafia’, including people like Jaan Tallinn, an Estonian programmer and investor who participated in the development of Skype and file-sharing application FastTrack/Kazaa.
Based in Talinn, Estonia, Pactum has a business office address located in Mountain View, California, USA, with most of its technical and product development handled in Estonia.
The company's first customer was Walmart, which was successful to the point where Harvard Business Review has cited it as a case study in using AI to radically improve procurement processes, with a case study written by Remko Van Hoek, a Professor of Supply Chain Management at the University of Arkansas.
In 2025, Pactum states that they have over 50 enterprise customers, including the likes of Walmart, Veritiv, Otto Group, Coupang, Honeywell, Suez, Duke Energy, Greencore, Bristol Meyers Squibb, Novartis, Linde, Ennovi, Vallen and Global Industrial. Pactum actively targets Fortune 500 companies.
Awards
In 2021, Pactum won the Demo Competition at DPW Expo Amsterdam.
Also in 2021, SpendMatters placed Pactum in their “Future 5” list. This list recognizes the five most innovative procurement tech startups according to SpendMatters analysts.
2024 saw SpendMatters put Pactum in the “50 To Watch” list, relative newcomers to the market that SpendMatters believe offer the latest and most innovative solutions in the industry. 2024 also saw Pactum named in the ProcureTech 100 list of pioneering procurement companies.
In 2025, Pactum was named “Future Unicorn” by DIGITAL EUROPE, an organization that consists of 41 European national trade associations. The award was presented by European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, Ekaterina Zaharieva.
