Uppu Kappurambu[5] (transl. Salt and Camphor) is an upcoming Telugu-language comedy-drama film set to premiere on 4 July 2025[6][7][8] exclusively on Prime Video[9][10][11]. The film is directed by Ani I.V. Sasi and written by Vasanth Maringanti, with production by Radhika Lavu under the Ellanar Films banner[12], starring Suhas and Keerthy Suresh[13]

Plot

Set in the 1990s, Uppu Kappurambu unfolds in Chitti Jaya Puram, a fictional Telugu village grappling with a scarcity of burial space in its graveyard. Apoorva, the newly appointed village head[14][15], and Chinna, the graveyard's caretaker, are tasked with finding a solution. As they navigate this challenge, a series of bizarre and hilarious events ensue, highlighting the quirks of the villagers. Ultimately, their collective spirit and unity pave the way for resolving this communal problem[16][17][18]

Uppu Kappurambu[21] was officially announced on March 19, 2024[22], as part of the Prime Video Presents event. The announcement was made during a star-studded showcase hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, where Prime Video unveiled its upcoming slate of Hindi and South Indian films and series[23][24]

The film’s cinematography is handled by Divakar Mani, with music composed by Sweekar Agasthi. Sreejith Sarang serves as the editor, while Sri Nagendra Tangala helms production design. The costume design is by Poojita Tadikonda, and Ravi Thyagarajan directs the stunts. VFX supervision is provided by Rakesh Cherumadam from Promice.[25]

Uppu Kappurambu is scheduled for a direct-to-digital release on 4 July 2025 on Prime Video[26][27][28]
