A travel chit is a document issued to commuters by rail transport operators in Singapore when train services are disrupted. The chit certifies that the commuter's travel was affected by the disruption, e.g. if it causes them to be late for work, or for a national examination like the Primary School Leaving Examination.[1] Paper chits are distributed at transit stations during disruptions; they state travel details such as the station, date, and time, and are signed or stamped by transport operator staff. Electronic travel chits ("e-travel chit") can be obtained from a website;[2] this uses the geolocation of the user's mobile device to verify that they are affected by the disruption.[3]
