Tomas Rimac is an American football offensive guard for the Virginia Tech Hokies. He previously played for the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Early life
[edit]Rimac is from Brunswick, Ohio.[1] He attended Brunswick High School where he played football as an offensive lineman and participated in track and field, specializing in the shot put and discus throw.[2] In 2021, he was named the Medina County Gazette Senior Male Athlete of the Year, as well as the track and field MVP, after becoming the state champion in the discus throw and the runner-up in the shot put.[2] He was also a two-time selection to the all-star team selected by the Gazette.[3] He graduated from Brunswick in 2021.[3] A three-star recruit and the fourth-best offensive lineman in the state, he committed to play college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers.[4]
College career
[edit]As a true freshman at West Virginia in 2021, Rimac redshirted and appeared in two games.[3] He entered the 2022 season as a backup, but after an injury to James Gmiter, started the final five games of the season at left guard.[5][6] He was named first-team Freshman All-American by The Athletic for his performance.[7] He then started 11 games in the 2023 season and was named honorable mention All-Big 12 Conference.[8] He remained starter in 2024 and was again named honorable mention all-conference, before announcing a transfer to the Virginia Tech Hokies for his final season in 2025.[9]
