The Tigray Democratic Solidarity (Tigrinya: ዲሞክራስያዊ ስምረት ትግራይ), also known as Simeret, is a newly formed political party in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia.[3] [2] [1] [4] [5]

Creation

Tigray Democratic Solidarity (Simeret) was granted provisional registration by the National Election Board of Ethiopia on 26 May 2025.[1] The party is led by Getachew Reda, the former interim president of Tigray.[2]

Name

The party is expected to unveil its mission, vision, and political roadmap in the coming days.[1]

Current Events

The emergence of Solidarity follows the National Election Board’s recent decision to revoke the legal status of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).[2][3]
