The Creative Center was a private for-profit career college in Omaha, Nebraska. Opened in 1993, it offered both associates and bachelors degrees in graphic design. It operated out of a strip-mall near 108th & Maple in Northwest Omaha. In 2021 the center announced via social media that it would close citing declining enrolment.
History
[edit]The Creative Center was founded in 1993 by Ray Dotzler, the owner of a commerical design studio, and his wife Jan Dotzler. In June 2006 it was approved to offer Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees.[1] On January 11, 2011 the college announced via posts on Facebook and Instagram that it would cease operations within the following six months. It cited "a national trend of declining enrolment" as well as the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]
Academics
[edit]The college was located at 10850 Emmet Street in Northwest Omaha, Nebraska; occupying 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) in a strip mall. The center offered two-year Associate of Occupational Studies and accelerated three-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in graphic design.[1][3] According to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System in 2019 it received 27 applicants, of which it accepted 96%. The cost of attendance(tuition and fees) was $27,700, and the average completion or graduation rate was 72%.[4]
