Edit request on 14 August 2024

[edit]

To any administrator, apply my edit to this infobox's sandbox: replace font-size: 125% in |abovestyle= with {{{abovestyle|}}}. Santiago Claudio (talk) 04:24, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain the purpose of this edit. Also, I have removed the setting in the edit request saying that this is an edit request for Template:Infobox officeholder rather than Template:Infobox military person. SilverLocust 💬 10:26, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This edit request is for consistency with |abovestyle= in Template:Infobox person. Santiago Claudio (talk) 02:12, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I encourage the requester to test their new parameter on the testcases page. I expect that an error will appear in Preview mode; the new parameter needs to be added to the unknown parameter check. This advice goes for all three edit requests filed by the requester. – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:58, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I synced the testcases; there were no errors. Santiago Claudio (talk) 02:46, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Which test case contains a demonstration of |abovestyle=? – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:33, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Usage

[edit]

Is this infobox designed for members of the military services of current or former states, or can it be used for members of non-state paramilitary organisations? E.g. in Ian Milne it (or elements within it such as '| branch, | branch_label,| battles, | unit, | rank') is used for membership of the Provisional Irish Republican Army. If the latter, how far does this extend? I can imagine controversy if it could be used for members of some other groups in "Category:Organizations based in Europe designated as terrorist".

I feel that the current wording "a soldier or military leader, or for uniformed officers in non-military branches *of government*" implies that 'soldier or military leader' means "soldier or military leader in the military branch of a government" Alekksandr (talk) 19:57, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template is blank

[edit]

This template is blank and has no data, I was making a page on Alfton Mais and well... yeah Washweans (talk) 02:02, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This template is not blank. It is used on over 47,000 pages. Please link to an example page where it is not rendering properly. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:55, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This page (the one you are on) on mobile website. Washweans (talk) 16:35, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It looks fine to me on mobile. Maybe post a screen shot? See Wikipedia:Screenshots of Wikipedia. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:42, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dark mode signature support and default size

[edit]

The signature image of this template doesn't support inversion of raster graphics in dark mode (see e.g. Carl Spaatz with dark mode on). The following line, copied from Template:Infobox person, should replace the current data27 line in the template. This also increases the size of the image from 100 to 150px if unspecified, bringing that in line with Infobox Person as well.

| data27 = {{#invoke:InfoboxImage|InfoboxImage|image={{{signature|}}}|size={{{signature_size|}}}|class=infobox-signature skin-invert|sizedefault=150px|alt={{{signature alt|{{{signature_alt|}}}}}}}}

Suggested improvement to spacing on 'Blank template'

[edit]

There is a missing space after the equals sign on parameters disappeared_date, disappeared_place, death_cause, and known_for in the 'blank template' section. --Engineerchange (talk) 17:15, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: {{edit template-protected}} is usually not required for edits to the documentation or categories of templates using a documentation subpage. Use the 'edit' link at the top of the green "Template documentation" box to edit the documentation subpage.
