Tejinder Singh is an officer of the Indian Air Force. He is currently serving as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, with the rank of air marshal. He assumed the office on 1 May 2025 succeeding Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor.[2] Previously, he served as the 48th Deputy Chief of the Air Staff.[3]

Early life and education

Tejinder Singh is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, National Defence College, New Delhi and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.[2][4]

Career

Tejinder Singh was commissioned as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. In a career spanning over 38 years, he has as more than 4,500 hours of flying experience across various fighter jets.[4]

He is a Category A qualified flying instructor. He served as the commanding officer of No. 5 Squadron and has extensive flying experience on SEPECAT Jaguar aircraft.

As Group Captain, he served as the Station Commander of the 47 Signal Unit - Skycatchers, a Radar Station situated in Vadsar, Gujarat.

As Air Commodore, he served as the Principal Director Personnel Officer (PDPO) at Air Head Quarter in New Delhi. Later, he served as the Air Officer Commanding of the 7 Wing in Ambala. After a stint at Ambala, he worked as the Principal Director of Aerospace Safety at the Air Head Quarter in New Delhi.[1]

As Air Vice Marshal, he served as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff, Ops Offensive (ACAS-Ops), New Delhi. Later, he served as the Air Officer Commanding, Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir from 1 October 2020 till April 2022. Afterwards, he spearheaded the offensive arm of the Indian Air Force as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Ops, Strategy).[1][5]

After his promotion to Air Marshal on 1 April 2023, he took over as Senior Air Staff Officer of Eastern Air Command. He assumed the office on 22 May 2023, succeeding Air Marshal Balakrishnan Manikantan and served till 31 August 2024.[6]

Later, he served as the 48th Deputy Chief of the Air Staff from 1 September 2024 succeeding Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit and served till 30 April 2025.[3][7]

He took over as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command on 1 May 2025 from Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor.[2]

Honours and decorations

During his career, Tejinder Singh has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022 and Vayu Sena Medal in 2007 for his service.[8]
