Edit request: Add verified family connection to Amirbai Karnataki
[edit]Hi, I'm Zeshan Bagewadi the subject of this article. I would like to request an edit to include a verified family connection in the article.
My great-aunt is Amirbai Karnataki, the legendary singer and actress from early Indian cinema. Amirbai was the sister of my great-grandfather, Raj Mohammed Kuntoji.
This relationship is confirmed in two independent published sources:
1. In a 2025 interview with Bold Journey Magazine, I speak directly about my relationship to Amirbai and my family's history: https://boldjourney.com/meet-zeshan-b/
> “My great Aunt, Amirbai Karnataki. A Bollywood singer and actress from the 1940s–60s… she was disowned by her brother (my great-grandfather)...”
2. In a biography published by StreeShakti, a women's history project, Amirbai’s brother is named as **Raj Mohammed Kuntoji**, a police officer in Belgaum: https://www.streeshakti.com/bookA.aspx?author=10
Also, Amirbai Karnataki has her own Wikipedia article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amirbai_Karnataki, which confirms her historical notability.
I respectfully request that a sentence be added to the article under the "Early life" or "Background" section, such as:
> “Zeshan B is the great-grandnephew of Amirbai Karnataki, a pioneering singer and actress in early Indian cinema.”
Thank you for considering this request. I’m happy to provide any additional clarification if needed. Zeshan24 (talk) 19:51, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
