A statement on their website supports this, though it requires a great deal of interpretation... https://www.ycombinator.com/faq says: "Why did you choose the name “Y Combinator? The Y combinator is one of the coolest ideas in computer science. It's also a metaphor for what we do. It's a program that runs programs; we're a company that helps start companies." Repeated Edits: Vocera

It seems like Vocera keeps adding themselves to the very end of the history section, citing a questionable article.

I would like to point out that this is just one of [at least 600 companies]https://www.ycombinator.com/companies?batch=F24&batch=S24&batch=W24 that where admitted that year. Admitting means you get the YC standard deal which is explained here: https://www.ycombinator.com/deal Which makes the company not noteworthy or stand out. This should be removed, since if it stays it opens the gates to hundreds of companies every batch.
