Final lines of "White Resentment" section

[edit]

"The homes and businesses of successful African-Americans were sometimes torched by whites at night." does not seem to be contained in the mentioned source. The source specifically describes burning of the bank, but not specific arson against homes prior to that.

I think that sentence is somewhat referring to the campaigns of terror instituted by the Red Shirts, the KKK, and other white supremacist groups taking place before the Massacre, rather than generalized arson that destroyed black businesses & homes owned by blacks (keeping in mind the Reconstruction era#Violence etc. It is an acknowledged fact that violence and terror were perpetrated on the black population of the South after the Civil War. I'll do some research and work on it.- Shearonink (talk) 14:09, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've adjusted text in that section and added a ref. - Shearonink (talk) 21:32, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
