Weight limit of 400kg
[edit]This doesn't make sense. I checked out the source, but if the pylon was originally designed to carry a 5th non-operating engine, it would have a weight far greater than 400kg. I have to believe that the source is incorrect. Checking out https://virginorbit.com/technology/ I found that 300-500kg is the typical weight of the payload, not counting the two stage rocket that is dropped from the 747. --rogerd (talk) 23:45, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- The pylon limit design load includes the weight of the launch vehicle itself (LauncherOne / two-stage rocket) while the payload refers to the load exclusive of its vehicle e.g. the cubesats themselves. I agree that the source and/or wording should be changed to be consistent with either the pylon load or the payload. Do note that, unfortunately, the payload weight is no longer currently (as of this posting) relevant as Stratolaunch only acquired the modified 747 itself and not the launch vehicle technology. 47.34.176.58 (talk) 21:48, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
