• Source: According to research conducted by Sam Alvaro for a Carleton University thesis, less than 2% of Canadian police department adopt the SWAT name. The majority of police tactical units in other departments use names such as Emergency Response Team, Emergency Response Unit, Emergency Task Force, Emergency Services Unit and Groupe d'intervention (English: Intervention Group).
