Solstice Points of Reference Confusing
[edit]The article says: "Mount Hermon is almost due north and Mount Tabor is close to December solstice sunrise." The part about Mount Tabor does not make much sense. The sun rises in the east, even in December. The Golan Heights are well to the east of Mount Tabor, so how would someone standing at the archeological site in the Golan Heights see the December sun rising from the direction of Mount Tabor? Rakovsky (talk) 01:11, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Rakovsky: The sun does not rise exactly in the east or set exactly in the west. It depends on the season. In December it sets south of west, approximately in the direction of Mount Tabor. See this calculator for a precise direction. I checked the source and it does say "sunrise", which is an error — it should say "sunset". Given that the relevance of this is 100% speculation, and correcting the error would be OR, I'm deleting the sentence. Zerotalk 02:47, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
2024 study needs to be further included
[edit]I've done the first moves. What still needs to be added are its conclusions, mainly the purpose (burial) and placements into a wider context (see purpose of the other numerous structures at the site). The Time of Israel article has link to original paper from pre-pub journal. Arminden (talk) 16:21, 2 January 2025 (UTC)

Edit the title of the site to reflect the Hebrew name, as this site is located in the state of Israel.
Gilgal Rephaim does not mean the wheel of the spirit or wheel ghosts. It means wheel of the Giants. This is a direct reference to the book of numbers, where the spies entered the land of Canaan and saw the Giants. This corresponds to this part of Israel. https://www.israelsitesandsights.com/post/mysterious-stonehenge-like-site-in-the-golan-heights-part-one
THEREFORE, THE TRANSLATION, GHOST OR SPIRIT IS SIMPLY INCORRECT. THE WORD IS GIANT. ALSO, THE ARTICLE PURPOSELY LEAVES OUT THE REFERENCE TO BIBLICAL HISTORY. 66.60.174.82 (talk) 06:06, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
