Spouse
[edit]
Rip Taylor was married to a showgirl named Rusty Rowe. The exact dates are unknown, but Taylor throughout his career has been very open about this marriage. See here: [http://www.filmreference.com/film/87/Rip-Taylor.html], [1] and [2]. Maineartists (talk) 23:45, 28 October 2016 (UTC)
- And who's 'Catherine McKellar'? Doesn't seem to fit with him being gay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.123.16 (talk) 00:22, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
Variety states that he was survived by longtime partner Robert Fortney. Why isn't this in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.8.157.176 (talk) 02:13, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
“Jr.” ?
[edit]It’s unclear when this was added to his name. ( I know, at least one obituary added it.) But, his father’s name was “Elmer Harrison Taylor”, not “Charles Elmer Taylor”. ( Check Rip’s Find-A-Grave entry, it has a link to his father.) Do we know if he was ever referred to as “Jr.” before his death? There’s certainly no legal documents reflecting it.
It appears that either lazy obituary writers cribbed their info., partly from HERE, or vice-versa.99.196.176.254 (talk) 16:59, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Marriage / Divorce - approximate time line.
[edit]Marriage info. From: The Wichita Beacon, Page 30, Saturday, August 22,1964, ( Wichita,KS.) “And next month Rip is going to end his bachelorhood by marrying Rusty Rowe a Las Vegas showgirl who is a 6-foot-4 towering beauty”
Divorce info. From: Sunday News, Page 77, Sunday, April 10,1983, ( Lancaster,PA.), article titled, “Rip Taylor vs Peter Pan”, “expresses no regrets about his ultimate career choice, even though he does blame its demands for the demise of his four and a half year marriage to former Las Vegas showgirl Rusty Rowe.”
To sum up, his marriage took place around September 1964, and ended around 1968-1969. ( Hardly the “early 60s”.) And note, he blames the demands of show biz for the divorce. 99.196.176.254 (talk) 15:35, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
