[edit]Ric Flair has many world title wins that are either disputed or unrecognized. Flair himself recognizes 21 world titles, while WWE recognizes only 16. There are actually 27 unrecognized championship victories stolen from Flairs record. The list compiled below have sense been proven by newspaper and video footage that has surfaced online. 1. September 17th, 1981 Flair pins Dusty Rhodes in Kansas City, Mo. (Recognized by WWE & Flair.)
2. * February 9th 1982 Flair awarded the NWA title after Midnight Rider refuses to remove his mask; at this time the NWA did not allow masked men to be champion. Midnight Rider pinned Flair at a CWF event in Miami, Fl on February 9th, 1982 after a bionic elbow. (Unrecognized by WWE & Flair)
3. * September 7th, 1982 Flair looses to Jack Veneno in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic by pin-fall after a pile-driver. A rematch was scheduled a week later where Roddy Piper appeared in Flair’s corner and resulted in a disqualification after Piper tripped Jack Veneno. Jack Veneno forfeited the championship soon after the rematch after refusing to wrestle outside Dominican Republic. The championship was awarded back to Flsir by forfeit. (Recognized by Flair, but not WWE)
4. * January 6th, 1983 Flair lost a unification match to Carlos Colon in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Flair won the title back from Colon on January 10th, 1983 in Miami, Fl. (Recognized by Flair, but not WWE)
5. * February 8th, 1983 Flair lost the world title in Couva, Trinidad to Victor Jovica. The NWA later reversed this decision because Jovica won by using his feet on the ropes for leverage and awarded Flair back to the title three days later on February 10, 1983. Then on June 10th, 1983 Harley Race pinned Flair in St Louis, MO. (Recognized by Flair, but not WWE)
6. November 24th, 1983 in Charlotte, NC at Starrcade 1983 Flair pinned Harley Race. He then lost the championship back to Race in New Zealand on March 20th 1984. (This loss was recognized by WCW and Flair, but is unrecognized by WWE and also the NWA.)
7. * March 23rd, 1984 in Kallang, Singapore Flair regained the world title from Harley Race. On May 6th, 1984 in Dallas Texas at Texas Stadium on the Davis Von Erich Memorial event Flair lost by pin-fall to Kerry Von Erich.
8. May 24, 1984 in Yokosuka City, Japan Ric Flair pins Kerry Von Erich to regain the world title. Flair looses the title two years later on July 26th, 1986 to Dusty Rhodes at Great American Bash Greensboro, NC. (Recognized by Flair & WWE)
9. * On February 11th of 1985 in Kansas City, MO Bruiser Brody used a flying knee drop to pin Ric Flair and become world champion. The referee for the match, Sonny Myers who was knocked unconscious during the match and he made the “decision” to reverse the title change because he saw Flair throw Brody over the top rope, which was illegal at the time, before getting knocked out. Flair was disqualified and the world title was returned to Flair’s possession. (Not recognized by Flair or WWE)
10. November 28, 1985 in Atlanta, GA at Starrcade 1985 Dusty Rhodes pinned Ric Flair. One week later on December 3, 1985 Referee Tommy Young reversed his decision an award Flair back the championship. On July 26th, 1986 at Great American Bash in Greensboro, NC Flair looses to Dusty Rhodes. (Not recognized by Flair or WWE)
11. August, 9th 1986 Flair beat Dusty Rhodes again at Great American Bash Charlotte, NC. He then lost the title on an episode of World Wide Wrestling on September 25th 1987 in Detroit, MI. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
12. November 26th, 1987 in Chicago, IL at Starrcade 1987 Flair pinned Ronnie Garvin in a cage match. He then lost to Ricky Steamboat on February 20th, 1989 at Chi-town Rumble in Chicago, IL. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
13. May 7th, 1989 Flair beat Steamboat at Wrestlewar in Nashville, TN. He then lost to Sting on July 7th, 1990 at Great American Bash in Baltimore, MD.
WCW
14. January 11th, 1991 Flair wins a match at East Rutherford, NJ to become the first WCW World title from Sting. (WCW recognized this as two title wins. WWE does not recognize this or the controversial Fujinami championship matches.)
NWA
- 15. Flair also wins the NWA World Championship from Sting in the same match to crown the new WCW World Championship on January 11, 1991 in East Rutherford, NJ. At the time WCW recognized both titles as two championships. Flair lost the NWA championship on July 1st, 1991 in Tokyo, Japan to Fujinami in a NWA title vs IWGP title match. (The NWA recognizes this title change, but WWE doesn’t)
NWA
16. * May 19th, 1991 at Superbrawl I in St Petersburg, FL Flair regains the NWA championship by pinning Fujinami in a NWA title vs WCW title match. WCW later stripped Ric Flair of the WCW title on July 1st, 1991 and the NWA stripped Flair of the NWA world title on September 8th, 1991. (Flair, WCW, and NWA recognize this title change, but WWE does not.)
WWF
17. January 19th 1992 in Albany, NY at the Royal Rumble Flair eliminated Sid Justice to win the vacant WWF World Title. He looses it in Indianapolis, IN at Wrestlemania XVIII on April 5th, 1992 to Macho Man Randy Savage. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
18. September 1st, 1992 in Hershey, PA on Prime Time Wrestling Flair beats Macho Man Randy Savage for the WWF World Title. Flair looses to Bret Hart in Saskatoon, Alberta Canada on October 12th 1992. Highlight where shown on an episode of WWF Superstars and first seen in entirely on the Smack ‘Em Whack ‘Em VHS video tape. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
NWA
19. July 18th, 1993 in Biloxi, MI at Beach Blast 1993 Flair pinned Barry Whyndam for the NWA World Title. On September 15th, 1993 the NWA stripped Flair of the world title after WCW withdrew membership from the NWA. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
WCW
- 20. September 15th, 1993 WCW awarded Flair as the first WCW International Champion. Flair lost the title to Rick Rude on September 19th 1993 at Fall Brawl 1993 in Houston, TX. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
WCW
21. December 27th, 1993 in Charlotte, NC at Starrcade 1993 Flair pins Vader for the WCW World Title. April 17th, 1994 in Rosemont, IL at Spring Stampede 1994 Flair and Rick Steamboat pinned each other resulting in the title vacation. (WCW or WWE do not recognize this title loss.)
- 22. April 21st, 1994 in Atlanta, GA on WCW Saturday Night Flair beats Ricky Steamboat to regain the WCW Championship after the Spring Stampede rematch. Flair then looses the championship on July 17th, 1994 in Orlando, Fl at Bash at the Beach 1994 to Hulk Hogan. (WWE does not recognizes this title change.)
- 23. June 23, 1994 in Charleston, SC at Clash of the Champions XXVII Flair defeats Sting in a WCW International Title vs WCW World Title match unification match. (This is not recognized by WWE or WCW.)
24. December 27th, 1995 in Nashville, TN at Starrcade 1995 Flair defeats Macho Man Randy Savage and Lex Liger for the WCW World Championship. Flair looses it back to Savage on January 22nd 1996 in Las Vegas, NV at Caesars Palace on Monday Nitro. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
25. February 11th, 1996 in St Petersburg, FL at Superbrawl VI Flair beat Macho Man Randy Savage for the WCW World Title. Loosing to the Giant on Monday Nitro on April 22nd 1996 in Albany, GA. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
26. March 14th, 1999 in Louisville, KY at WCW Uncensored 1999 Flair beat Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Title. Flair lost the title to DDP on April 11th, 1999 at WCW Spring Stampede in Tacoma, WA. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
27. May 15th, 2000 in Biloxi, MO on Monday Nitro Flair beats Jeff Jarrett for the WCW World Title. On May 22nd, 2000 in Grand Rapids, MI on Monday Nitro Flair looses to Jeff Jarrett. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
28. May 29th, 2000 in Salt Lake City, UT on Monday Nitro Flair defeated Kevin Nash after Nash “gave” the championship to Flair. Flair then two hours later lost it again to Jeff Jarrett on the same event. (Recognized by Flair and WWE)
Bruiser Brody & Wahoo McDaniels
[edit]There is rumors that Bruiser Brody defeated Flair twice amongst fan forums, where newspaper clippings were served as evidence that there was a second occasion where Flair lost to Brody a year later and had the decision reversed. Similar situation in 1986 that Wahoo McDaniels also defeated flair in Charlotte but had the decision reversed. This would make Flair’s total to 30 world championships.
