Heavy AI use in article?

The sentence structures and word choices for many of this article's sections have many similarities to LLM outputs like ChatGPT. Have not yet investigated edit history to confirm. 136.142.159.74 (talk) 15:03, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Is 2010 a good starting date?

[edit]

I am thinking the retail apocalypse could have started around the year 2008 as an effect of the Great Recession. However, 2010 could be a good date because of the rise of social media around that time and broadband internet connections have become standardized for almost everyone during that time, making e-commerce more mainstream. I think I am leaning towards 2008. Maybe this starting date could be something to look into? 47.12.180.193 (talk) 06:46, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The current "beginning around 2010" certainly doesn't seem to be supported by the sources. https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2017/04/retail-meltdown-of-2017/522384/ only uses the year as a benchmark ("Between 2010 and last year") and https://www.businessinsider.com/store-closures-in-2018-will-eclipse-2017-2018-1 doesn't mention it.
