Modern Passenger Rail Equipment on Routes in Sicily

In May 2025, Trenitalia is running newer, four-unit, permanently coupled trainsets in Sicily on these routes:

Catania to Syracuse

Catania to Messina

Termini Imerese to Agrigento

At peak hours, two of the trainsets are coupled together to increase passenger capacity. The interiors have overhead screens which display route information, station stops, arrival time at the next station, and speed in Kilometers per hour. The units have a restroom at each end of the train.
