Why Qatar supports Hamas

[edit]I noticed that the creation of the category "2023 Israel-Hamas war" appeared to be a form of propaganda, as it violates Wikipedia policies. Additionally, it is unnecessary since there is already a page available for the "2023 Israel-Hamas war." Such vandalism of the page with this category is a clear violation and should be addressed accordingly. I have fixed it. 109.60.47.7 (talk) 12:11, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- Kindly review the existing relevant page, "2023 Israel-Hamas war", as it already exists. It would be advisable to review and redirect the category/page. 93.140.135.244 (talk) 12:24, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- Which policies does it violate exactly? It has nothing to do with the article about the current war, as the Qatari support started long before the war. Alaexis¿question? 12:03, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

The sources confirm money in 2014 was never sent directly to Hamas
[edit]The cited sources all say that after 2014 Qatari money went to non-Hamas recipients, such as electricity costs and direct humanitarian causes, and suitcases of cash to PA government employees. There was never direct payment to Hamas that was supported by Israel or the US, according to the articles cited. The article should make this clear. The allegation that these payments effectively empowered Hamas indirectly (by supporting the Gaza population ) is an opinion, not a fact. 142.186.145.22 (talk) 14:31, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Description of suggested change:
Public Perception and Media Campaign
In 2024, allegations concerning Qatari support for Hamas were referenced in a legal and public relations dispute between former Prime Minister of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al-Thani and Irish businessman Paddy McKillen. As part of the dispute, McKillen reportedly funded public protests led by U.S.-based Rabbi Pini Dunner, who received a monthly retainer through a Los Angeles PR firm to organise demonstrations and social media content critical of sheikh HBJ. The campaign drew media attention for its strategic use of paid messaging within the context of an ongoing arbitration case in London.[1]

- Hi you! As I understand your edit request, you would like us to add your text to the article. First of all, it seems to be 2025, not 2024. Your source basically says that Dunner, who was paid by McKillen, held a demonstration with banners accusing HBJ of funding Hamas. However, your article doesn't add any information about Qatari support for Hamas, so I don't think that this campaign, even if it drew media attention, is notable enough to deserve a place in our article.
- I may be wrong, and therefore I won't close your edit request for now, so other editors who may disagree with me, can make the edit. Friendly, Lova Falk (talk) 15:03, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- I think you're right. The protests against the support, if widely covered, would be within the scope. On the other hand, an arbitration case is only tangentially related. Alaexis¿question? 21:50, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
