Proposed updates: discography, awards, Greek name
[edit]Hello everyone,
I’m **Petros Klampanis (Greek: Πέτρος Κλαμπάνης)**. This is my first time reaching out on Wikipedia, and I hope I’m doing this correctly. I respect the editors’ work and aim to provide accurate, sourced information for your review.
Lead
[edit]Add Greek name to the opening: “Petros Klampanis (Greek: Πέτρος Κλαμπάνης; born July 15, 1981) is a Greek jazz double bassist, composer, and producer.”
Career
[edit]- He leads a trio featuring Kristjan Randalu (piano) and Ziv Ravitz (drums), presenting the *Latent Info* repertoire internationally. [1][2][3]
- He is the musical director and co-arranger for Grammy-winning vocalist Arooj Aftab on her 2024 release *Night Reign*.[4]
- He performs as the bassist in Oded Tzur’s quartet, appearing on several albums, including three ECM releases: Here Be Dragons (2020), Isabela (2022), and My Prophet (2024).[5][6]
- He co‑composed and performed **“Cavafy Ghost”** with vocalist Helga Davis as part of “Waiting for the Barbarians,” a project produced by the Onassis Foundation, based on C. P. Cavafy’s poetry. The world premiere occurred at St. Thomas Church in New York in May 2023 and was covered by *The New York Times*.[7][8]
- He teaches as a guest lecturer and workshop leader at institutions including **Oberlin Conservatory**, the **Ionian University (Corfu)**, the **Conservatorium van Amsterdam**, and the **Royal Conservatory of The Hague**.[9][10]
- He performs internationally at major jazz festivals and venues across the Americas, Europe, and Asia—with his own ensembles and with Grammy-winning vocalist Arooj Aftab.[11][12][13]
