Osman was not Sultan

[edit]

He didn't take the title of "Sultan" instead he established Ottoman Beylik (Emirate or principality). The title of "Sultan" was first used by his successor and son Orhan who the first person to take the title of "Sultan". So I have changed his title to "Bey" from "Sultan" according to history. rv, it is incosistent. Also there is no proof that Ottomans were of Kayi tribe. It's Ottoman propaganda against other beyliks. Beshogur (talk) 11:14, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
According to 15th-century historian Aşıkpaşazade claims that Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman dynasty, descended from the Kayı tribe. This lineage, he suggests, places the Ottomans among the most noble and distinguished of the Oghuz Turkic tribes, which would have given them an honorable and prestigious ancestry. He traces the Ottoman line back to Süleyman Şah, who is often depicted as Osman's grandfather. Aşıkpaşazade describes how Süleyman Şah, fleeing from the Mongols, led his tribe from Central Asia to Anatolia. According to this account, when Süleyman Şah drowned while crossing the Euphrates River, his sons continued into Anatolia, and one of his descendants, Ertuğrul, eventually settled in Söğüt. Ertuğrul is then described as Osman's father, further establishing the connection between the Ottomans and the Kayı tribe. Therealbey (talk) 03:38, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am telling you this is viewed by modern historians as a tool of propaganda against other beyliks. There is no proof his being "bey of Kayi" etc. Even his life a black hole described in the article. Only thing that can prove he and Ertugrul was a real person was his minted coin. Otherwise he could be another semi legendary person. Beshogur (talk) 12:02, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
yes but successors of the state are sons of the founder and the founder instanly becomes sultan, we cannot trust wiki as it is an open source 2407:AA80:314:B764:F13B:14C9:2F3F:3915 (talk) 15:07, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Osman had a daughter named Fatima but halime is a fictional daughter of Osman from the drama series called Kuruluş: Osman and is just people mixing up things up. AJMgirl (talk) 06:06, 19 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What does this have to do with the Osman I WP-article? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:28, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Most modern historians agree that Kameriye Malhun Hatun was the daughter of Ömer Abdülaziz Bey (also called Ömer Bey), not the daughter of Sheikh Edebali. This is supported by Sultan Orhan’s 1324 endowment deed, which names his mother explicitly as “Mal Hatun, daughter of Ömer Bey”. By contrast, Rabia Bala Hatun was Sheikh Edebali’s daughter, married Osman I around 1289 and gave birth Alaeddin Ali Pasha; she died in January 1324 and was buried beside her father in Bilecik,So rabia bala hatun are malhun hatun are separate people, but i understand the confusion as there is conflict in the past between historians. Byzantine-Mongol convergence attempt section

[edit]

I don't understand this part. Doesn't give any information about Osman. Beshogur (talk) 21:59, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed a large chunk which is pretty much irrelevant to Ottoman expansions at that time. The sources do not even mention Ottomans. Beshogur (talk) 22:01, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"please change your descendants and my daughter Malhun shall be your wife. to your descendants and my daughter Bala Hatun shall be your wife.

Reference: as per the below wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheikh_Edebali the daughter of Seikh Edebali was Bala Hatun not Malhun. Nizamhaider786 (talk) 10:50, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming this is about the quote under Osman_I#Osman's_Dream. No, we don't change quotes. Many figures have different names/spellings in different sources, but MOS:PMC is the rule on this website. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:04, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
