What novel by John Buchan?

The current lede has a sentence that begins "Other possible inspirations for the theme include a novel by John Buchan,". This is not mentioned at all in the article. If any one knows what novel is meant, that at least should be added somewhere, hopefully with a citation that shows someone suggested it as an inspiration.
