Requested move 19 June 2025

[edit]

Musqueamview StreetŠxʷməθkʷəy̓əmasəm Street – Musqueamview Street is not the name, it is a semi-official translation used only for systems which require it. Media refers to it more often in its official Halkomelem name. Coleisforeditor (talk) 20:17, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, I would like to mention that the Americanist phonetic notation, the alphabet used, is a Latin script, and given the non-anglicanised/translated form "šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmasəm" is used more often, the move would align with policy. Coleisforeditor (talk) 21:02, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How would you expect to have people search this article up without standard Latin letters? We are on English Wikipedia after all. GarethBaloney 21:32, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WP:REDIRECT.
The policy I mention lists examples of non-English alphabet letters being used. Coleisforeditor (talk) 05:36, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:ENGLISHTITLE, "Names not originally in a Latin alphabet, such as Greek, Chinese, or Russian names, must be romanized". So your suggestion is a non-starter I'm afraid — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:27, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is a Latin alphabet, see other parts of the discussion. Latin script ≠ English alphabet but English alphabet = Latin script. Coleisforeditor (talk) 05:37, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article meets WP:GNG ― maintenance template should be removed. (User:SounderBruce, notifying you per WP:WTRMT)

A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.

  • "Significant coverage" – See references in article or search on Google
  • "Reliable" – Sources used are reputable, large scale and reliable. Official city materials can be assumed to be correct for where it is used
  • "Sources" – Multiple sources independent of each other and the city are used
  • "Independent of the subject" – City materials are used only two times to back up claims or for mundane claims such as road length or dates, elsewhere independent sources are used.
