"double landlocked"?
[edit]What does this mean? Seananony (talk) 05:19, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- hello! "landlocked" means that the region is not connected to an ocean! "double landlocked" means that the state is fully surrounded by other landlocked states :) xRozuRozu (t • c) 05:43, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
Lead section gives pronunciation that doesn't reflect the rest of the article
[edit]The lead section, as it stands now, gives the pronunciation of the state as "Missouri (/mɪˈzʊəriː/ mih-ZOOR-ee)". This was added in an edit from this March. However, the "ZOOR" pronunciation isn't reflected anywhere else as of now: even the sound file linked right after the first word pronounces the word like (/mɪˈzɜːri/ mih-ZUR-ee), the most common pronunciation mentioned in the Etymology and pronunciation section.
The editor who added the IPA guide certainly doesn't seem to be a bad-faith one, but this looks like an oversight. Is there any proof that Missouri should be pronounced to rhyme with "Tory"? 217.210.240.184 (talk) 14:58, 29 September 2024 (UTC)

In music section, change "Ragtime composer Scott Joplin" to "Ragtime composer and 'King of Ragtime writers' Scott Joplin" Local Ragtime Representative (talk) 13:56, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
Not done: That wording doesn't flow well and it does not fit the rest of the paragraph in terms of detail. Ultraodan (talk) 07:37, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

This article says that Missouri is the 18th most populous state. Could someone please change that to 19th to match with List of U.S. states and territories by population article? It looks Maryland is back to 18th now. 2603:8080:D03:89D4:49F0:72EE:F3A5:457A (talk) 18:25, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
