COI edit requests

[edit]

  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

"The ServiCenter, Inc was founded in the 1950s at Wiley Post Airport in Oklahoma City for aircraft maintenance. It was renamed Valair Aviation by AGC Aerospace & Defense in December 2009[1] before changing its name and expanding its services."

  • Why it should be changed:

Although this company is located in the same place, it doesn't have any affiliation with Metrea.

  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

(1)The current iteration was formed on August 26, 2016[2] originally under the name Meta Aerospace and changed its name on October 10, 2022, Meta Special Aerospace becoming one of the divisions taking the name Metrea Special Aeropace.

(2)The spokesperson and head of the Air & Space Group is Jon T. Thomas, former lieutenant general of the US Air Force.[3]

(3)On February 6, 2025, a Beechcraft B300 King Air 350 Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance light aircraft from Metrea crashed in the town of Ampatuan on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines during a routine mission supporting U.S.-Philippine security cooperation activities. The three Metrea employees and one American soldier on board died.[7]

  • Why it should be changed:

Para 1 - No division took on the name Metrea Special Aerospace.

Para 2 - Jon 'Ty' Thomas is no longer the head of the air and space group. It would be ours and his preference that his name removed from this article

Para 3 - There are details about this incident which are wrong - because of the sensitive nature and investigations still well underway, I cannot disclose the reasons. It would be our preference this be removed from the talk page whilst we're still actively investigating the incident.

@TWestMet We do not remove content, even if it wrong, unless it is verifiably wrong. Please provide a source which demonstrates these facts, or demonstrate that the sources currently in the article do not support the current content. Rusalkii (talk) 02:23, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Rusalkii,
For this paragraph "The ServiCenter, Inc was founded in the 1950s at Wiley Post Airport in Oklahoma City for aircraft maintenance. It was renamed Valair Aviation by AGC Aerospace & Defense in December 2009[1] before changing its name and expanding its services."
The source provided is: https://www.aviationpros.com/home/press-release/10396700/agc-aerospace-defense-renames-oklahoma-portfolio-company
In the attempt to prove a negative, there is no mention of Metrea, or any of it's associated companies in this article.
I hope this is evidence enough this section of the Wikipedia page is incorrect and irrelevant.
Many thanks,
Tom TWestMet (talk) 10:42, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again,
For this paragraph "(1)The current iteration was formed on August 26, 2016[2] originally under the name Meta Aerospace and changed its name on October 10, 2022, Meta Special Aerospace becoming one of the divisions taking the name Metrea Special Aeropace."
The Source (2) links to a companies house website 'https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/10348588' which outlines one of our companies 'Metrea Management ltd'.
Again, the paragraph only mentions Metrea Special Aerospace and not the source provided. Making this incorrectly sources at best & incorrect at worst.
Many thanks again,
Tom TWestMet (talk) 10:46, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Me again,
For this paragraph "(2)The spokesperson and head of the Air & Space Group is Jon T. Thomas, former lieutenant general of the US Air Force.[3]"
The source (3) links to Jon 'ty' Thomas's personal LinkedIn here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jon-t-thomas
This mentions he is employed by Metrea in a different position but does not mention him being a Spokesperson for Metrea. His position is also incorrect on the Wikipedia Page
Many thanks! TWestMet (talk) 10:50, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Finally,
In regards to this paragraph "(3)On February 6, 2025, a Beechcraft B300 King Air 350 Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance light aircraft from Metrea crashed in the town of Ampatuan on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines during a routine mission supporting U.S.-Philippine security cooperation activities. The three Metrea employees and one American soldier on board died.[7]"
The source is from a French media outlet written 2 day post incident.
We have an official statement which is most up to date which i'd like to edit the page with which is written here:
https://www.metrea.aero/news/press-release-thursday-6th-february-2025
I hope this helps!
Many thanks,

@Rusalkii
Hi it's been just over a week and i've had no reply. Is this matter still being looked into?
Many thanks,
Tom TWestMet (talk) 09:01, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sorry @TWestMet, I've been on a partial wikibreak and did not mean to leave this hanging. Unfortunately the COI edit request process is often very backlogged.
1: While I agree the source in the article doesn't reflect this, I see a bunch of google hits for a "Metreat Executive Aviation", formerly "Meta Special Aviation". Is this an unrelated company? I have removed it for now as unsourced.
2: I have removed "spokesperson". The source still has him as the head of the Air and Space Group, so I don't see any justification for removing that. If he updates his linkedin, or there's otherwise a source for him no longer being at the company, we can update this to "former" or remove it entirely.
3: Generally speaking, we prefer independent sources (like the newspaper article) to primary sources (like your press release). You can suggest the wording with which you'd like the article updated (note that copying directly from the press release would be a copyright violation), but I strongly recommend relying on independent sources as much as possible. Hey!
That's ok, I can imagine this is quite intense.
I'm happy with those edits. Could you look at the second paragraph again?
"The ServiCenter, Inc was founded in the 1950s at Wiley Post Airport in Oklahoma City for aircraft maintenance. It was renamed Valair Aviation by AGC Aerospace & Defense in December 2009[1] before changing its name and expanding its services."
The source provided is: https://www.aviationpros.com/home/press-release/10396700/agc-aerospace-defense-renames-oklahoma-portfolio-company
This source really bears no relation to Metrea, there isn't a mention of it in the source. I would call for this paragraph to be removed.
Many thanks,
Tom TWestMet (talk) 15:40, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The article claims that Valair is a precursor company to Metrea. Skimming a couple external sources, it looks like maybe this is a different Metrea? I am somewhat confused by this, could you clarify?
If they're different companies, then obviously this should be removed, but that leaves a bit of a sentence stub as the first sentence: "the current iteration was founded..." as ooopsed to? So this will need to be rewritten as well. Perhaps just "Metrea was founded..."? Rusalkii (talk) 17:49, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey,
Sorry it's been a little while. To be honest I'm not sure where this has come from. We could say that 'Metrea Management ltd was founded in 2016?'Source - https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/10348588
Many thanks

Or preferably - 'Metrea was founded in 2016' as it embodies all of the businesses TWestMet (talk) 08:36, 5 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
