New merge proposal

Massopoda is a node-based taxon, which were established by discussions at WP:DINO and WP:PAL to be lower-priority than stem-based taxa in getting articles. Furthermore, any expansion of this article will generally discuss the taxonomy and systematics of its daughter-taxon Sauropodiformes. I therefore propose that Sauropodiformes be split into its own article and Massopoda be merged into its parent-taxon Sauropodomorpha. The usefulness of Sauropodiformes as a taxon is also reflected in its number of google scholar mentions (over 180), which is more than double the 90 mentions of Massopoda. This will hopefully close the two stale merge discussions that were previously opened on this page. A Cynical Idealist (talk) 22:03, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
