Still in need of improvement
[edit]I thought the article was not bad; it was very easy to follow and straight forward, but maybe it could benefit from more sources. Cbyrd2011 (talk) 04:05, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
I went through this article and made several changes (improvements) however I feel this article still needs further improvement to make it more comprehensive and consistent with Wikipedia standards. A fresh perspective would be welcomed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.241.170.43 (talk) 07:04, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Merge_proposal
[edit]I propose merging Betti reaction into this page. The reactions are essentially the same and the term 'Mannich reaction' is used frequently in the literature even when the substrate is a phenol. The separation of these articles appear to be purely so that due credit can be assigned, but the inventors are both long dead and there are other ways of handling this.Project Osprey (talk) 16:40, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- It's a subclass of Mannich condensations, of which there are many; the Pictet-Spengler reaction is yet another cursed Mannich but seems to be stand-alone as well as Betti. A Betti reaction may have been called a Mannich reaction in the literature. It's not erroneous per se. I see no compelling reason to merge the articles, though I do understand your point Dima Minyailo (talk) 02:08, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
