BLP Policy Concerns – Request for Deletion

[edit]

Hello,

I am submitting this request for the deletion of the article Majid Azami due to serious and multiple violations of Wikipedia’s Biographies of Living Persons (BLP) policy.

My concerns are as follows:

  • The article makes serious and damaging allegations, including involvement in military oil sales and links to sanctioned groups, without balanced attribution or sufficient reliable sourcing.
  • It relies heavily on politically affiliated or non-mainstream sources, such as Iran International, that do not meet the rigorous standards required for BLP content.
  • The article omits a key fact: Majid Azami has filed a formal claim with the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to challenge the sanctions, and his request is currently under review. The absence of this information creates a misleading and incomplete narrative.
  • Several claims are unsourced or vague, including the assertion that he is “one of the most influential” figures in his industry, which may amount to original research or editorial bias.
  • Importantly, Majid Azami is a low-profile individual with limited public presence. BLP policy explicitly requires extreme caution in such cases, particularly when the content could cause harm.

Given these issues, I believe the article does not meet Wikipedia’s standards for BLPs and poses a reputational risk to a living person without due justification.

I request the article be considered for deletion in line with BLP policy.

Thank you. Segalbenis (talk) 14:17, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
