V5 probably just refers to version of the ship that attacked the tarantula class

MAGURA V5 is the official designation of the drone. Seeing how there is no public info about the designations of previous iterations, there is no reason to change the title. Visgean is correct: now that Ukraine has revealed the MAGURA W6P trimaran and MAGURA v7, it's clear that MAGURA is a broad class that includes very different autonomous naval vessels. As a side note: it appears that the "V" in "V7" likely does not refer to "version" but rather the V-hull of its design, while "W" in "W6P" presumably refers to it's trimaran hull, which is shaped roughly like a "W". VP6 or WP6?

Sources differ, and at least one article includes both. Per above, my understanding is that the ship in question is a trimaran, and given that the V in "V5" is reportedly for "V-Type", and thus "W6P" refers to the triple hull as a "W-Type". My best guess is that "V6P" is based on an erroneous assumption that "V" instead refers to "Version". But before editing, I'd love some input and hopefully even consensus on this—thanks! Renaming—need input!

Per above discussion, it makes sense to rename ("move") the page to "MAGURA", since it now refers to a class of USVs, rather than a specific model. I have edited the article to reflect this, but before renaming, have a few questions:

Should the title be "MAGURA (Maritime Autonomous Guard Unmanned Robotic Apparatus", "MAGURA (unmanned surface vehicle)", "MAGURA (maritime drone)", or just simply "MAGURA"?
Although "MAGURA" is clearly an acronym, most sources seem to only capitalize the first letter—any thoughts, either in terms of the title or a style to use throughout our article?
I've never done this before, and don't want to screw up any links—is it really just as easy as choosing "Move", or are there additional steps to take? If someone with experience would prefer to do it, please be my guest!

Personally I would prefer MAGURA without any disambiguator in parentheses, as there is no need to WP:DAB if there are no other topics sharing the same name. It'd also make sense to have the name in uppercase, since it is an acronym, and a lot of sources covering the topic still seem to commonly write it in the uppercase form even though there are a handful of sources that use the form "Magura" as well (compare NATO vs Nato, NASA vs Nasa, and then sonar, lidar, and Qantas), and I don't think either form makes up any majority so we should have the liberty to just pick and choose one. The form Magura covers many topics and would need disambiguating (I'd also expect that eventually someone would want to write an article about the Slavic neopagan God Magura in the future too). --benlisquare_T•C•E 04:16, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
