23rd LSA

[edit]

Hi CNMall41, hope you are doing well. Need your opinion on Draft:23rd Lux Style Awards as well please. I noticed that instead of having a proper ceremony, they have only digitally announced winners on the social media of different news channels, like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc., however, none of the news channel has properly published on its website. How can we create an article about this? Meanwhile I have put WP:FACEBOOK references of reputable news outlets considering WP:PSTS. Thank you! M. Billoo 21:47, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You should already be aware about the use of social media sites based on the warning you received on your talk page. Not sure what exactly needs answered other than to say this ceremony is not notable based on the sourcing. In fact, I am likely going to recommend many of the others are merged into a single page about the awards since the sourcing is sparse there too. --CNMall41 (talk) 22:37, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed on merging all into one main space, but one issue is that they have changed some categories over years, how can these be identified here? Also, the 23rd LSA is still just a draft until any reputable publishing appears.
I had never received a formal warning; editors like "User:Scope creep" and "User:Saqib" tried highlighting this issue, to which I always replied a reference to my conversation with then admin User:Cyphoidbomb (Special:Diff/792904282). M. Billoo 22:50, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe warning is not the right term. Maybe I should say you were made aware of something that should not be done which from the draft of the 23rd LSA looks like you are doing anyway.
As far as categories, Wikipedia is not WP:INDISCRIMINATE. We do not need to make lists of all the award winners unless it is something that is widely published. And by widely published, I am talking about bylined sources that discuss the award show, not unbylined churnalism with "entertainment desk" or similar bylines. --CNMall41 (talk) 22:56, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
One concern please, are [1] and [2] WP:RS or not? M. Billoo 02:54, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

While we are here, this is not something we need to do. It is WP:REFBOMBing. Sources are not needed for the lead as the lead is a summary of what is in the body. If that information is not already stated in the body, then it needs removed from the lead altogether.--CNMall41 (talk) 23:01, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I know, I only meant to support four words "film, fashion, music, television in Pakistan", instead of ambiguous/general links to words sports and film industry.
In body, actual current words are used like "Critics, Viewers", while in lead, there were outdated "Jury, People". Sharing only my intention, Thank you. M. Billoo 23:07, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then those words need removed from the lead. Also, no need to keep pinging me. I have this on my watchlist (as I do all Lux Award pages based on the undisclosed paid editing and SOCK activity). --CNMall41 (talk) 23:15, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
