Resignation and Appointment of bishop of Kamyanets-Podilskyi of the Latins, Ukraine
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Kamyanets-Podilskyi of the Latins, Ukraine, presented by Bishop Leonid Maksymilian Dubrawski.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Eduard Kava, O.F.M. Conv., until now auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins, as bishop of the diocese of Kamyanets-Podilskyi, Ukraine.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop Eduard Kava, O.F.M. Conv., was born on 17 April 1978 in Mostyska, in the region of Lviv, Ukraine. On 1 October 1996 he entered the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. From 1995 to 1999 he received his religious formation in Krakow, Poland. He subsequently carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Mary Queen of Apostles Major Seminary in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation. He received priestly ordination on 1 June 2003. He returned to Ukraine, and from 2003 to 2004 served as parish vicar and then parish priest of the parish of the Friars Minor Conventual in Boryspil. From 2004 to 2009 he was superior of the Community in Kremenchuk. From 2010 to 2012 he was parish priest and superior of the local community in Matskivtsi. From 2012 to 2016 he was superior of the convent in Boryspil. From 2016 to 2017 he held the role of guardian of the convent of Saint Anthony in Lviv. In addition, from 2008 to 2017 he was delegate of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual for Ukraine.
On 13 May 2017 he was appointed auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins. On the following 21 June he received episcopal ordination. Since 2023, he has served as secretary of the Ukrainian Episcopal Conference.
