Where was harambe shot and what did they use to shoot him?

[edit]

hello fellow wikipedians!

Does anyone have a source that states were he was shot and what weapon was used?

This source says he was shot in the head.

https://www.nonhumanrights.org/blog/harambe/#:~:text=Fearing%20a%20tranquilizer%20dart%20would,that%20swiftly%20followed%20was%20extensive.

And this source says a Remington 870 was used by the zoo workers.

Despite these souces, my edit including such information was removed.

What do I do now? BadMombo1660 (talk) 00:35, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't revert but was glad to see. Not everything that can be sourced should be included. This level of detail was not widely reported. Also unclear why it's important. No doubt the zoo's Dangerous Animal Response Team has appropriate tools, this is their job, there is nothing controversial or notable about their choice of tools. Its not like a murderer or mass shooter where the weapon is significant for reasons like gun control controversies. (BTW I think Wikipedia needs a DART also.) -- GreenC 02:48, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The source says the DART team was certified with that gun but didn't say they used it to kill Harambe. EvergreenFir (talk) 04:48, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hyde Park, Cincinnati

[edit]

The Hyde Park in question where candlelight vigils were held for Harambe is the neighborhood in Cincinnati, not the one in London, that needs to be changed. 184.167.242.59 (talk) 15:01, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why

[edit]

Why didn’t the Zoo worker just use a Tranquilizer gun? 2001:2044:126E:E000:1C50:A8DD:7CEC:AA79 (talk) 09:52, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I read somewhere because it takes time for the sedative to activate and they were concerned the animal would respond badly in the mean time to being shot and hurt the child. -- GreenC 16:55, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Music" section of article is completely unneeded and repetitive.

[edit]

Multiple mentions of musical homages are already mentioned in the previous section, so why is there a music section with one singular entry? (also unsourced and referencing an artist without their own article).

I can't edit because I am an IP user and prefer to stay anonymous, but I would seriously consider acting upon removing the "music" section and just adding that line of text to the previous section. 167.102.183.145 (talk) 18:35, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Gone. No indication of notability. Added in March but went unnoticed apparently. -- GreenC 01:47, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
