Use of "Michaels"

Should we be referring to Kameron Michaels as simply "Michaels" (which is not a true last name)? We've had this discussion on other drag queen article talk pages, but I want to discuss this subject specifically. ---Another Believer _(Talk) 22:55, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If I recall previous discussions correctly, our own informal consensus was that drag queen surnames are, in general, not true last names. However, Kameron explicitly refers to "Michaels" as her last name in sources such as this and this (in the latter, 11:45 minutes in). At the very least, it's a self-identified last name in this case. Kameron Michaels in 2019

... that Kameron Michaels (pictured) has been described as a lip sync assassin? Source: "Kameron Michaels Talks Supporting The Younger Generation and Being Season Ten’s Undisputed Lip Sync Assassin" ([1]) That's just one example; the same language also appears elswehere. [2][3][4]
- ALT1: ... that Kameron Michaels (pictured) was once known as Arianna St. Claire? Source: "According to an interview with a blog called Foul Mouth of the South, the 31-year-old from Nashville was asked about the origins of her name and said that Kameron Michaels was a drastic switch from her previous drag name: Arianna St. Claire." The article was promoted to GA on 3 April, long enough, referenced and neutral. Earwig picked up a dew websites but it seems like they are copying from the article. Hi Corachow, and thank you for this review! I'm not too sure whether "lip sync assassin" should be in quotation marks, as it's a standard piece of drag terminology (examples: [6][7][8][9]). It's not usually seen between quotation marks in RS. Armadillo pteryx 19:40, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistent pronoun use

This article is very inconsistent with pronoun use. If the subject uses both or any “they” should be used for simplicity and nit wildly using whichever is fancied in the moment 173.77.66.234 (talk) 13:18, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The subject uses "he" out of drag (in his personal life), "she" in drag (when in character as Kameron Michaels). This convention is used across articles about drag queens, whose private identity and performer identity are different genders. Armadillo pteryx 16:31, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
