Joplin, Missouri, metropolitan areaJoplin metropolitan area – There is no other metropolitan area in the United States named "Joplin metropolitan area", so having the state name in the title is unnecessary. 2600:1700:6180:6290:89EC:C3A1:A1C7:8A08 (talk) 18:16, 3 July 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 19:52, 10 July 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. TarnishedPathtalk 06:54, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, the more concise names seems better. Though from my cursory research there is little consitency. See the variety in:
  1. Fargo–Moorhead
  2. Topeka metropolitan area, Kansas
  3. Casper, WY Metropolitan Statistical Area
  4. St. Cloud, Minnesota metropolitan area
  5. Harrisburg–Carlisle metropolitan statistical area
  6. Memphis metropolitan area
  7. Greater Cleveland
I think for most cases #6 is the best with #4 being acceptable to dismabiguate (Portland, Columbia, Springfield, etc.). SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 15:26, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
