The content of Joplin-Miami, MO-OK MSA was merged into Joplin metropolitan area on 15 June 2020. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists. On 3 July 2025, it was proposed that this article be moved from Joplin, Missouri, metropolitan area to Joplin metropolitan area. The result of the discussion was moved.

Weak support per those other articles (WP:CONSISTENT), WP:CONCISE and that the example of this situation at WP:USPLACE, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in the American Civil War doesn't even follow it, so assume in unambiguous cases it doesn't apply (or at least would need a new discussion concerning all these articles). Support, the more concise names seems better. Though from my cursory research there is little consitency. See the variety in:
