Hello, I am requesting a flag instead in the edit requests because it is complicated for me, anyways so, I request the flag for Jammu and Kashmir on the page to be the flag of the princely state, the one that was used until 1953, under the flag it should say "Flag of Jammu and Kashmir (Disputed flag)". Please edit the page to display the flag. Thank you. BrrrrSkibidiDopeYesNo (talk) 10:15 pm, 15 May 2023, Monday (6 days ago) (UTC−5)
I propose that the page Jammu and Kashmir should redirect to Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), as that is the current official entity most commonly associated with the term.
To address historical and alternative uses (such as the former state, the princely state, and general regional references), we already have a disambiguation page at Jammu and Kashmir (disambiguation).
This redirect would align with current usage and reduce confusion, while the disambiguation page would continue to serve users looking for other meanings. Shaikh Hassan মাহমুদ t 12:54, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Strong oppose The dab page in place is historically comprehensive with respect to the usage of the term in the scholarly literature. This RM is a waste of time, and borders on disruption.

- @ShaikhHahassanMahmud, please do not open the same discussion in multiple locations. As I mentioned at Talk:Jammu and Kashmir#Proposal: Redirect Jammu and Kashmir to Jammu and Kashmir (union territory): You cannot simply change the disambiguation page to a redirect. Please see the instructions at WP:RM for proposing to move Jammu and Kashmir to Jammu and Kashmir (disambiguation). older ≠ wiser 13:06, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
I apologise for that, but as a Bangladeshi, I want to know about the current Jammu and Kashmir, not the princely states of historical times. Shaikh Hassan মাহমুদ t 13:53, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
In recent years, Indian Jammu and Kashmir has seen significant socio-economic progress, with major investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and employment initiatives. The region has benefited from substantial budget allocations, new highways, expanded rail connectivity, and the establishment of premier educational institutions. Development projects in agriculture and allied sectors have positively impacted thousands of households, while improvements in road and air connectivity have further integrated the region with the rest of the country. In contrast, Pakistan-administered Kashmir faces persistent economic challenges, including high inflation, inadequate infrastructure, and limited access to essential services. The area relies heavily on subsidies and remittances, and has experienced public unrest over rising costs and shortages of basic commodities. Educational and medical facilities are comparatively limited, and freedom of speech is severely restricted. These differences have contributed to a marked disparity in living standards and development between the two regions. Rakesh9797 (talk) 11:13, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
