There is not visible
[edit]This is not visible,the interabang EOLE79 (talk) 15:08, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- This is probably an issue with the fonts supplied with your web browser (computer, phone). Not every font includes the symbol as it is so rarely used. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 17:22, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- I've added Template:Contains special characters to the page. Bazza (talk) 17:59, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
How to use interrobangs
[edit]An interrobang is intended to be used for the use of exclamatory rhetorical questions. Here are a few examples:
He really said that‽
You can't be serius‽
They went bankrupt‽
Have fun using interrobangs! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inoalotofinfooo (talk • contribs) 18:14, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
interrobang in chess
[edit]In chess annotation ?! and !? are very different. The former means dubious; the latter means interesting. See, e.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_annotation_symbols Rrafw (talk) 21:12, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
- The hatnote mentions that but I have added a brief note to the chess notation section as a 'see also'. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 01:14, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- It's misleading to include chess here at all. The interrobang is meaningless in chess because the order of characters matters. Texpedia (talk) 17:25, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
Is this a 1925 appearance of an interrobang?
[edit]This example is from the comic strip Gasoline Alley from July 31, 1925, and it's pretty close: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/lcehdwqv1f3elxfz2i92e/GA-interrobang-prototype-7-31-25.jpg?rlkey=up2cho2eqer7bgdd76xgux7po&st=ng77b6c5&dl=0 Joecab (talk) 19:01, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- The Dropbox link expired as they are prone to, but here's a Newspapers.com clipping from Gasoline Alley's home paper The Daily News; it's a syndicated comic so other papers also carried the strip at the time. Arlo James Barnes 12:53, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
Application secction
[edit]Why is one of the examples of usage " The dingo ate your baby‽" 45.234.125.42 (talk) 17:28, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- Presumably because the death of Azaria Chamberlain incident inspired both strong emotions and initially-unresolved questions. That said, not in the best taste as an example sentence... I've changed it out. Arlo James Barnes 01:12, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Right-to-left scripts
[edit]Are there mirrored variants, not just rotated as in the gnaborretni? Arlo James Barnes 23:00, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
