FDX-A '10-bit code'

[edit]

The article currently states: “FDX-A, which uses the 125 kHz frequency and a 10-bit code, is not ISO compliant.”

Do we have a source for this claim? I’ve been working on decoding data from an FDX-A tag and found this sentence unclear.

Specifically, I’m unsure what is meant by “a 10-bit code.” As written, the sentence seems to imply that the presence of a 10-bit code is itself non-compliant with ISO 11784/11785 — but those standards define a 10-bit country code, so 10 bits wouldn’t inherently be a problem.

Is this referring to a vendor-specific identifier, or something else in the FDX-A format? If someone has a technical reference or historical context, it would be helpful to clarify this or revise the sentence for accuracy. Isaaaaaaaac (talk) 11:31, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
