Merged

[edit]

List of iPod models was merged here, but some of its contents don't appear to be mentioned here. It wasn't very well sourced so I won't copy it, but others might be interested in rescuing it. DFlhb (talk) 12:54, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

final iterations

[edit]

the article lists the final iteration of each ipod model, but conspicuously does not include the ipod mini. any reason why? 173.49.61.70 (talk) 03:08, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup and reworking

[edit]

I'm considering bringing the sources I've gathered for other Apple products to improve this one, and also arrange it a bit more like other featured-quality products. In that vein:

  • The article definitely needs a rewrite to decontextualize this as a dormant/extinct product line, rather than something Apple is still selling. A lot of proseline-level stuff that should be cleaned up.
  • The list of models cites Mactracker, which isn't a reliable source.
  • A lot of the hardware/software specific stuff feels like it should be more broadly summarized; specific technical information that's unique to certain models can exist on those product lines rather than trying to summarize every single iPod.
  • The history section is pretty bad, but that's easily covered by the Steve Jobs, Jony Ive, and Tim Cook biographies.
  • Almost nothing on the legacy and impact of the product, but there's a lot of what feels like COATRACKing of criticisms; most don't directly relate to the iPod at all, or only specific iPods, and seem like they should be covered elsewhere (and are, for example Apple's business practices in China.) This stuff seems easy to just plain axe as redundant.
  • A lot that's unreferenced, or needs better referencing (preferably non-primary, to demonstrate it's important enough to include.)

Not going to be diving in any time soon, but mostly ruminating. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 19:12, 14 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
