Who owns Gumtree?

[edit]

22 July 2020 Ebay has officially sold Gumtree in a deal worth over $9 billion to Adevinta which will now become the world’s largest classified ads business. Adevinta paid Ebay $9.2 billion (£7.26 billion) in a cash and stock deal to merge its classified ads business (including Gumtree) with its own. https://www.chargedretail.co.uk/2020/07/22/ebay-sells-gumtree-in-9bn-deal-which-will-create-the-worlds-largest-classified-ads-business/ S C Cheese (talk) 19:37, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gumtrees in other countries

[edit]

This article says "Gumtree UK, Gumtree Australia and Gumtree South Africa are now independent companies." These other two GT's do exist:

https://directorist.com/blog/canada-classified-sites-for-buy-sale-trade/ mentions using Gumtree in Canada but I cannot find a website for it.

https://www.avasam.com/us/the-10-best-usa-online-selling-apps-start-your-selling-journey/ says "Gumtree is a USA-based classifieds website" but I cannot find a website for this either.

Maybe the UK-based website covers Canada and USA, but I have not researched that (yet).

What seems fairly certain is that there are at least two other GTs apart from the UK one, so the lead should be altered, and the GT disambiguation needs to be added to. (I will probably doing the latter soon.) FrankSier (talk) 15:20, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
