Mazepin

After the news Mazepin is racing neutral, are we still to leave Mazepin's stats on this page? I am thinking not, considering Swiss-born Grosjean is considered French. Admanny (talk) 01:51, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Admanny: I'm leaving it temporaily waiting on the outcome of the RM. If the page is moved then the awnser to that question is clearly not. If it isn't moved the question (and the scope of the entire series) is in a grey-area. I propose that we don't tackle this question until we know the outcome of the RM.

@SSSB:, English is not my native language, but I assume that the opening sentence is not clear. May be it is better to re-write it to something like: "There have been three Formula One drivers who officialy represented Russia"? The problem is that saying they "officially [represent] Russia" is contenious (which is why this page isn't named "Formula One drivers who represented Russia".) A note may be warranted though. SSSB (talk) 07:22, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mazepin

I believe that Mazepin should be on this page in more pronounced way than it is right now. Few notes which somewhat support this:

Current note is just a single digit "1" in first paragraph, it is barely noticeable. I think pretty much everyone who wanders on this page expects to see Mazepin here, even with all kinds of notices imaginable. Like it or not, currentry he is the most famous "Russian" F1 driver. That is the most important point.
He is in Template:Formula One drivers from Russia and Category:Russian Formula One drivers. In template he is both clearly visible and clearly separated from the rest. (Also he is in Category:Neutral Formula One drivers and in Template:Formula One drivers by country "Neutral" redirects to his page, there is no Neutral competitors in Formula one)
It is subjective, but I think "removing" Mazepin from the history of Russian motorsport does not punish Russian athletes, but quite the opposite. So adding him on this page cannot be counted as "promoting Russians" or anything nationalistic like that. It's like removing Hitler from the list of Germans on a technicality that he was born Austrian.

I believe he should be described on this page. Probably without counting his results in stats. Maybe as a separate "Neutral drivers" block. Iambackend (talk) 21:57, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
