Source: "a group of researchers from the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) has evaluated the understanding of this labeling system among university nutrition students and found that they have great difficulty interpreting the data contained on the labels." (INSP, in Spanish)

I also googled fro recent updates; I think there at least two news: [1] [2]

A tangentially related General Education Law that "prohibits the distribution and advertising of foods and beverages with low nutritional value in schools.."
Mexican government planned a Phase III additions to the labelling law, set for 2025, but the plans seem to be dissipated.
