this is a translation of the German Wikipedia article. Not finished yet. Wega14 (talk) 21:23, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
- still uses a video narrated in German for 4 citations. Can we find text sources (in English) for these assertions instead ? - Rod57 (talk) 17:29, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
Merge into Flywheel energy storage
[edit]This new article (Flywheel storage power system) largely duplicates what's in Flywheel energy storage. If there's anything in this article that's not already in Flywheel energy storage it can be added there and perhaps into Grid energy storage, too, if appropriate. - I agree. This should be merged to the Flywheel energy storage article. I can't distinguish the two. It seems like this page is just a subset of use cases of the flywheel energy storage? Only for electrical storage? But that's not true as the "Vehicle braking and acceleration" section is for internal combustion engine vehicles. So, this article is not strictly about electrical power storage using mechanical flywheel systems. Z22 (talk) 14:07, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose: After looking through more carefully on this page and many references out there, there is notability on the subject of electrical power grid flywheel energy storage. The use of flywheel in grid power management is unique and there are many references on the subject which would make it notible to have its own article. The overall Flywheel energy storage article has a very wide range of applications from toys, spacecraft, to motorsports, diluting all the knowledge on grid energy that could be useful for readers. The issue on this particular article with the irrelevant "Vehicle braking and acceleration" section has already been addressed. All other sections are related to grid energy storage applications and implications. So, I think this article deserves its own space but the title will have to be more clear as I could not find much references on "Flywheel storage power system" but there are a lot of references and scientific articles on "Grid-scale flywheel energy storage". I propose to rename (move) this article to Grid-scale flywheel energy storage. Z22 (talk) 16:43, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
