According to Google Ngrams flowering plants is around 50 times more frequent than fruit-bearing plants. Fruiting plants (meaning plants currently in fruit) is several times more common than fruit-bearing plants. When it comes to use of the terms for types of plants I'd guess there's a greater rate of false positives for fruit-bearing plants than for flowering plants. But I couldn't estimate how the relative effect of other meaning for flowering plants (plants currently in flower) on the false positive rate. Lavateraguy (talk) 17:13, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
